About Us

Estabished in 2020

Birdsbill Mercantile began as a hobby and gradually evolved into a full-service quilting business. Along the way, we dabbled in everything from holiday crafts to urban farming, but quilting always called us back. Over time, we honed in on what we truly enjoyed and what worked best. By the end of 2024, we were quilting full-time with a longarm machine.

During this journey, we noticed a gap in our community—many experienced longarm quilters had retired, leaving a need for a new provider who could offer quick turnarounds without the long wait times. That's when we found our niche: computerized edge-to-edge quilting with fast, reliable service.

Andrew is our lead longarm and custom quilter. From the moment our longarm machine, “Darla,” arrived, he dedicated himself to mastering every feature and technical detail, ensuring we could maintain a turnaround time of under one week. Charles focuses primarily on edge-to-edge quilting, bringing his own expertise to the process.

Together, Andrew and Charles combine skills from their diverse past careers—baking, cooking, managing, analyzing, and even event planning—to enrich Birdsbill Mercantile.

Behind the Scenes:

At Birdsbill Mercantile, Andrew and Charles bring a wealth of diverse skills from their varied professional backgrounds, shaping every aspect of the business. Here’s a closer look at their roles:

  • Andrew wears many hats, but his primary focus is on ensuring that every quilt is completed to the highest standard. He oversees all customer interactions, ensuring that each client feels heard and valued. From answering questions about quilt designs to providing updates on turnaround times, Andrew’s commitment to customer satisfaction is at the heart of the business. Beyond customer service, Andrew is responsible for managing daily operations, keeping everything running smoothly, and ensuring that projects stay on track. He also handles the billing process, filmography, and even sales, ensuring that clients understand the full range of services available. His passion for quilting and relentless attention to detail is evident in the work that goes out the door.
  • Charles is our marketing and digital media expert, taking charge of advertising, social media, and promoting the business in innovative ways. His background in analyzing trends and managing campaigns has made him a key driver in getting the word out about our services. Whether through Instagram, Facebook, or other platforms, Charles ensures that Birdsbill Mercantile maintains a strong online presence. He also works closely with Andrew on sales, helping clients understand our services and navigate their quilting options. His creativity extends beyond marketing—Charles is deeply involved in curating our branding, designing promotional materials, and creating a visually appealing experience for our customers both online and in-person.

Together, Andrew and Charles form a well-rounded team that balances creativity with practicality. They bring a unique blend of expertise from their past careers as bakers, chefs, analysts, managers, and party planners. These experiences have given them a sharp eye for detail, a knack for logistics, and a strong commitment to providing a seamless, personalized experience for every client. Whether it’s troubleshooting technical issues, brainstorming new marketing strategies, or working together to meet tight deadlines, their combined skills ensure that Birdsbill Mercantile continues to thrive as a quilting business that’s both efficient and customer-focused.
